DDMIX for Schools (Diverse Dance Mix) is a dance fitness program for PE created by Dame Darcey Bussell DBE.
The DDMIX for Schools dance fitness program is a tried and tested, successful, fun and educational way of bringing dance to every child regardless of age, background or ability. It is delivered by your school’s own teachers during their PE lessons, giving all children access to movement.
Our lesson plans include games, creativity elements and are very high time on task, having every child moving within 60 seconds of every class. We have designed the program so that it is easy to learn, easy to teach and also fun for the teachers to deliver themselves with confidence, resulting in a class full of responsive and active children.
DDMIX has created music exclusively for each genre ensuring there is no bias or preference to popular music. This fosters inclusivity and creates a new, fun learning environment for children to explore rhythm and sound.
The Key Stage 1 sessions are aimed at developing the key skills and elements of dance, introducing many themes which can be cross curricular.
Progressing to Key Stage 2, students are then introduced to choreography, performance and appreciation through the exploration of the exciting and engaging DDMIX dance genres which include Japanese, Disco, African, Bollywood and many more. Activities are used to introduce each genre/skill before sampling our straightforward DDMIX movements. This enables the children to gain creative confidence to put together their own sequences. The children remain high time on task, approaching movement without hesitation, enjoying exercise whilst learning new skills and creating their own ideas.
We offer a variety of packages to suit every school, providing the option for onsite school inset/twilights and/or online training. The online training compliments the onsite visits enabling the staff to revisit areas of the training. Once you have used the training both onsite or online, the videos remain constantly accessible to view at any time over the year.

Along with a lesson plan for schools to trial the product, during this unknown time we would like to provide a link to use whether it be in school or for parents/kids to use at home.
Whilst the lesson plan will be useful in a school setting to give a sample of the program, encouraging the use of movements and giving the creative confidence to the children to create their own movements, the video and music can also be used on its own to simply provide a dance for children to get up and do whilst they may be at home over the next few weeks.
