Andrew Sinden – UBAT on the benefits of Schools Broadband filtering and integration with Microsoft Azure Active Directory
Overview
- The University of Brighton Academies Trust has 15 academies, most of which have
independent Microsoft Active Directory environments. - The Trust is moving towards a single identity using Microsoft Azure and 365.
- The Trust’s central team, including Estates, Finance, HR, Marketing and ICT have already migrated to MS Azure, so the Trust relies on Schools Broadband’s Netsweeper Azure integration to allow them to roam easily between Academies.
Our Approach
The Trust was stuck having to manually reserve IP addresses and input staff data into Netsweeper to appropriately assign web filtering profiles across multiple sites. This proved time-consuming and inefficient. Schools Broadband was able to integrate Azure with Netsweeper, allowing the central team to have their own web filtering policies. Simply logging in at a site will allow staff to automatically use the correct web filtering policy.
Outcome
“Schools Broadband’s support was instrumental in the setup of our Netsweeper instance and Azure integration at the beginning of the year. Once fully configured, the directory sync with Azure has worked very well. We switched our academies to Schools Broadband over 12 months. Netsweeper was one of only a few education-focused web filters that supported Azure AD and was a factor in our selection process. Since adopting Schools Broadband, the Netsweeper platform has evolved and we often see new reporting tools and features become available. I am fully confident that this solution will work just as well when we roll our central directory out to our students as we have with our staff. I am happy to recommend Netsweeper for integration with Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
