Humble ISD Folk Dancing for Hispanic Heritage Month

Humble ISD students used Hey Kanga’s video lesson plans for Folk Dancing across many year levels to learn the Los Machetes folk dance for a school-wide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.  Los Machetes is a dance that originates from Jalisco, Mexico and was incorporated as a part of a cross-curricular leaning opportunity for Hispanic Heritage month.  All children need opportunities to celebrate and explore various cultures, especially when that culture is their very own. Hey Kanga’s library of folk dancing video lessons was the perfect way to start the exploration of the diversity within the Hispanic population.
