Designed to help teachers create maths lessons that meet all national curriculum guidelines in a fun, inclusive and age-appropriate way. White Rose primary resources inspire children and give teachers back the time to focus on what really matters – teaching.
Our primary maths resources help teachers to:
- Create lesson plans in minutes, and spend more time teaching
- Use maths games and other activities to make maths fun
- Explain core maths concepts and use our colourful, activity-based resources to make them stick
- Follow a logical, step-by-step scheme of work as it guides teaching priorities throughout the school year
- Provide opportunities to explore mathematical concepts at a deeper level, while ensuring no child falls behind
A primary maths subscription includes schemes of learning and a wide variety of supporting material, including high-quality maths worksheets, fully adaptable teaching slides, video lessons and more. To help teachers to monitor understanding and progress throughout the year, we also provide end of block and end of term assessments.
Our primary maths resources cover all the essential topics in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. They include times tables, the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), basic decimals and fractions, percentages, number system use and more.
Children are supported with problem solving and number fluency, nurturing confidence in mathematical thinking. We don’t think any child should be intimidated by numbers. In fact, we think they should be excited by what numbers can help them do.
Teaching for mastery
At White Rose we use a mastery approach to maths teaching. This is a research-driven teaching and learning method that meets the goals of the National Curriculum.
In summary, a mastery approach…
- Puts numbers first: Our schemes have number at their heart, because we believe confidence with numbers is the first step to competency in the curriculum as a whole.
- Puts depth before breadth: we reinforce knowledge again and again.
- Encourages collaboration: children can progress through the schemes as a group, supporting each other as they learn.
- Focuses on fluency, reasoning and problem solving: it gives children the skills they need to become competent mathematicians.
Concrete Pictorial Abstract
At the heart of our mastery approach is the Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach. Research shows that when children are introduced to a new concept, working with concrete physical resources and pictorial representations leads to a better understanding of abstract concepts. We use CPA throughout our schemes of learning.#
Secondary Resources
Our complete schemes of learning are also available for secondary level. A secondary maths resources subscription comes with lesson ideas, classroom activities, workbooks and videos, all designed to guide learning and create confidence in mathematical ability. They closely align with the national curriculum at key stage 3 and key stage 4.
Secondary support schemes
We offer a tailored support curriculum for years 7 to 9, aligned with the main scheme but designed to be more accessible for students needing extra help. It features fewer, targeted steps to deepen understanding and includes scaffolded activities and extra practice to build confidence in maths. Our goal is to ensure every student succeeds.
