The importance of PE in the personal development of every pupil

Since the introduction of the PE and Sports premium, we have found that many primary teachers have actually become de-skilled in delivering this area of the curriculum. The real PE platform and the associated CPD makes it possible for every teacher to deliver high-quality PE in order that every child can enjoy and benefit from an active lifestyle.

PUPIL PROGRESS AND ENGAGEMENT

We love the clearly sequenced curriculum in terms of the fundamental movement skills, which also supports teaching rules, strategies and tactics and as well as healthy participation. The holistic approach to developing personal, social, creative and cognitive skills alongside health and fitness and physical skills is perfect for supporting the engagement for all pupils, keeping everyone active and ensuring participation from pupils who don’t like to take part in traditional sport.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND REAL PE TO OTHER SCHOOLS?

The success of real PE in our school has led us to leading the development of PE across all of the schools in our multi-academy trust. Now all 13 primary schools are using real PE to deliver PE in their schools. The feedback has been extremely positive, with staff commenting on how easy the programme is to follow and how engaged all of the pupils are – from those needing more support to scaffold their learning to others who wish to challenge themselves further. We would recommend real PE to every school!
